CHAPTER III, Of the Mercantile Accounting
Article 34.-Whatever the registration system used, merchants must keep a ledger book, and, in the case of legal entities, the corresponding minute books; without prejudice to the special requirements established by tax laws and regulations for records and documents that are related to the tax obligations of the merchant.
Merchants may choose to keep the ledger and its minutes book in printed format, or in electronic, optical or any other technology, provided that, in the latter means, the provisions of the Official Mexican Standard on Digitization and preservation of data messages issued by the Secretariat for this purpose.
In the case of printed media, the books must be bound and foliated. The binding of these books may be done aposteriori, within three months after the end of the year.
